A case has been registered against a private school in Delhi for 'confining' 16 minor girls in the basement for not paying the school fees. According to the parents, the children were locked up in the basement without any food and water for nearly five hours.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday after the students, aged from 4-5 were sent to school at 7.30 am. Media reports some students were found crying while being rescued.
In response, the school principal denied the allegations and reportedly said, "The basement is not a punishment place; it is an activity room where children play and learn music. It is a kind of classroom." A case under Indian Penal Code Section 342 has been slapped against the school.
