Like straight out from a movie scene, a man reportedly strapped a bomb to his waist and then triggered a blast after hugging a woman killing them both in Kerala’s Wayanad district.
According to Financial Express report, the man identified as Peringattel Benny strapped a ‘thotta’ – a local improvised explosive device used for fishing and went to Amala’s house on Friday afternoon. He walked straight inside her house and triggered a blast killing himself and the woman on the spot. Amala’s husband had gone to a nearby mosque for Friday prayers when the incident occurred.
After hearing the loud noise, the neighbours rushed immediately to the house. To their shock no one could be saved, media reports added.
According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), Benny was a family friend of Amala's husband Elavana Nazar, although, police officials are yet to confirm that whether he had a relationship with Amala or not. Also, Amala's five-year-old daughter was playing in the front of the house and she was knocked unconscious by the blast, but she was not injured.
Amala is survived by her husband and three daughters and Benny is survived by his wife and two children.
