Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA in West Bengal, Debendra Nath Roy was found hanging in an open verandah early today morning outside a small shop in North Dinajpur district. Other politicians from BJP are of the view that it was a murder.
He was found hanging in a market that is one km away from home. Reportedly, one of the members of his family claimed that someone had visited the house at 1 am and called him away. The MLA’s family has now demanded a probe into his death.
His body was spotted by local residents in the morning and they contacted the cops.
BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said in a tweet, "No end to the killing of BJP leaders in Bengal. The BJP MLA who had left the TMC has been murdered. Was it because he joined the BJP?"
"Ray was found hanging near a shop at Hemtabad area this (Monday) morning. We have started an investigation," news agency PTI quoted a senior district police officer as saying.
