The bus was moving on the Varthur- Gunjur main road in Bengaluru carrying 30 School Children when a massive tree tapped the top of the bus. The incident took place on Monday (October 14) around 3:45 PM and had alarmed the kids inside the bus of an International School. The giant tree also crushed the truck that was parked by the side.
Reportedly, the bus was on its way to Dommasandra to drop off school children after school hours. While the children inside the bus were moved out safely, the driver suffered some injuries and was admitted to the nearby hospital. The public who witnessed the incident came rushing to save the situation.
Soon the information got passed to the parents who arrived at the spot to pick up their children. Meanwhile, the school management sent another bus to take the kids home and the Whitefield traffic police also arrived at the spot.
It was said that the BWSSB - Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board- played a crucial role for the tree to fall down. As per TNM, 'The BWSSB's digging work near the tree had weakened its roots which resulted in the incident. In addition to the BWSSB work, the rains also added to the weakening of the tree's roots'
Exhibit C: but for the grace of God, and the guardian angels, no lives were lost today.
The tree is suspected to have falled down due to the digging by BWSSB pipeline digging weakened the roots.
