Bengaluru police on Tuesday roped in a theatre artist, dressed as ‘Yamaraja’, the God of death, to warn motorists against flouting traffic rules. The ‘Yamaraja’ intercepted motorists near the Town hall and warned them that he would visit their houses if they flouted the rules.
The traffic police adopted the novel strategy to spread the message against not wearing a helmet, driving recklessly and other violations. The ‘Yamaraja’, attired in his traditional golden dress, was wielding a mace.
Deputy Commissioner of traffic police Anupam Agrawal reportedly said, “We are observing July as a road safety month. As part of it, we are conducting various programmes such as lectures in schools and colleges and street-plays.”
