Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma spoke to the press during an event at Standard Chartered. The actress stated that she supports death penalty for child rapists and said that child rape is the worst crime a human can do. Talking about the Kathua rape case, she reportedly said, “Like everyone in the country, I am deeply hurt by the incident. Even now when I think about it, I feel disgusted and extremely emotional. Like I said in my statement earlier, the most severe punishment has to be meted out to the people involved.”
Recently, the President signed an ordinance providing for the death penalty for those who rape children under the age of 12. The move came after the recent Kathua case where an eight-year-old girl was drugged and gang-raped for days inside a temple before getting killed.
