YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh Government’s recent revolutionary moves are being widely applauded by the people of the state. From reserving 75% of local jobs for natives to introducing ‘No bag days’ in schools, Jagan Mohan has firmly established himself as a responsible leader within a short period of time.
As a first step in fulfilling one of its electoral promises, the Jagan Mohan Government is planning to take over liquor sales within the state. Shop count will gradually be reduced in three phases before implementing a compete ban.
According to a report by The News Minute, sources from YSR Congress say that the Government’s move will also yield considerable revenue to the state which is much needed concerning its financial situation. However, the ultimate aim of the Government is to make Andhra Pradesh liquor-free.
Women and Social Activists across the state have happily welcomed the plan. In addition to a ban, they also want the Government to create an awareness campaign for efficient results. “The main issue is awareness. There has to be a conversation about alcoholism, especially among the poorer sections of society. We need to run more campaigns and talk about the effects that alcohol can have on your life,” Lakshmana Reddy, a social activist, was quoted as saying by The News Minute.
