The All India Council of Technical Education has reportedly ordered the engineering colleges that have more vacant seats to shut down for the next academic year. Maharashtra has the maximum number of engineering colleges with 1,500, and Tamil Nadu stands next with 1,300. Whichever colleges have less than 30% of admissions will be shut down, according to media reports.
