6-YEAR-OLD RAPED IN ODISHA DIES AFTER 8-DAY BATTLE

A six-year-old girl in Odisha who was raped and rushed to hospital in a critical condition from a school campus in Jagannathpur village under the Salepur police station on the evening of April 21, breathed her last on Sunday after eight days of struggle. Following the day of the incident, a 25-year-old man was arrested for the brutal rape under the relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act. It is further learnt that since the victim is no more, the charge of ‘attempt to murder’ will be converted to ‘murder’.
