In a shocking case, at least 70-80 people are feared trapped under the debris of a 5-storey building which collapsed near Mahad in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
As per initial reports, so far only 15 people have been evacuated. Currently, city police, fire brigade and three teams of NDRF have rushed to the spot and rescue operation is on. The building that collapsed was six-years-old and the cause of the collapse could be the continuous rain in the state.
According to an official posted at Raigad Superintendent of Police's office, the residential building had around 45 flats where nearly 100 people lived. The incident happened around 7:00 pm.
Currently, rescue teams with specialised equipment have also rushed to spot to look for survivors.
