A 70-year-old woman's body was found in Varanasi, preserved by her five sons for more than four months so that they could cash in on her pension. Reportedly, Amravati Devi died on January 13, but instead of disposing her body, her sons preserved it.
Her body was discovered by the police after the neighbours complained of a foul stench coming from the house. The five men allegedly used chemicals to preserve her body and cashed in on the Rs 40,000 pension she got monthly. Ink marks were found on her hands.
Amravati's body has been sent for a post-mortem. No arrests have been made so far.
