20,000 HAL EMPLOYEES TO GO ON INDEFINITE STRIKE!

Around 20,000 employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) are to go on an indefinite strike from Monday after talks with the management regarding wage revision and other demands failed.

"As talks and reconciliation efforts with the management failed on our demands, especially wage revision, we are going ahead with the indefinite strike from Monday as per the notice we served a fortnight ago (September 30) in compliance with the labour laws," HAL's 9 trade unions' general secretary S. Chandrasekhar was quoted as saying by The News Minute.

On the other hand, the company management says that the employees union is making 'unreasonable' demands. “The unions unfortunately have adopted a recalcitrant approach and did not accept the offer and decided to resort to indefinite strike,” HAL was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The company has five production complexes in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Odisha, Lucknow and Nashik in addition to four research and development (R&D) centres across the country.

After wage revisions in 2007 and 2012  (once in five years basis), the wage revision for 2017 is still due.  The employees union also alleged that the company is being partial between workers and officers.
