According to reports, at least 14 people were killed in Telangana’s Yadadri district after the tractor-trailer carrying 25 people plunged into a canal on Sunday. The vehicle carrying women workers who sow cotton departed to a nearby village before falling into the Musi river canal near Vemulakonda village.
Reports say that at least 17 others were injured in the accident and they were rushed to a nearby hospital. The death toll is expected to increase as many of the rescued are in critical condition. Locals and police are involved in rescue operations.
The incident reportedly happened when the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. He lost control of the vehicle and the tractor fell into the canal.
More details are awaited.
