1 LAKH LITRES OF FRESH BEER TO BE POURED DOWN IN DRAINS; SOCIAL MEDIA INSTANTLY REACTS!
Home > News Shots > IndiaAmid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, businesses and industries are suffering the most. Among most of the companies, craft beer industry in India is facing a total collapse these days.
As per a report in Times of India (ToI), nearly a lakh of craft beer was poured into drains as craft beers stocks are going stale in Delhi-NCR. Recently, Maharashtra faced the same issue where about 20 craft breweries might have to be poured out in drains.
“There is almost 1 lakh litres of craft beer, roughly three lakh pints that all the breweries are sitting on cumulatively with no way to sell,” Nakul Bhonsle, president of Maharashtra Craft Brewers Association of India (mCBAI) told ToI.
With no sale in the state, this will lead to a loss of around Rs 90 lakh spent in production and excise duty. After which the breweries owners are left with no choice but to pour them in drains.
Other than throwing them away, there is no other choice because craft beer or freshly brewed beer has a short shelf life. Also, if it lies unconsumed, it has to be discarded. Meanwhile, the cost of keeping the beer fresh is expensive; it has to be maintained at a specific temperature and monitored daily.
