According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, India has achieved the status of being the world's largest importer of primary arms in the last five years. Notably, India, which received most of its arms from Russia, accounted for around 13% of the total global arms import between 2012-16. Further, SIPRI also revealed that the US was the top arms exporter.
