The Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday confirmed that the Southwest monsoon has hit Kerala and the North East, two days before its normal onset date. According to the Director General of the IMD, the monsoon hit North East because of Cyclone Mora, which hit Bangladesh earlier in the day. Notably, the monsoon which hits the South West and Western areas around the western ghats brings seasonal rains to the Indian subcontinent.
