German dictator Adolf Hitler is remembered to have had a handlebar moustache with curved ends which he trimmed during World War I to allow his gas mask to seal accurately. Some reports assert that Hitler was directed to shave the moustache, to stay safe from the gas attacks. Notably, Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, in his Berlin bunker.
