Tamil Nadu minister for school education, sports and youth welfare K A Sengottaiyan reportedly said smart cards for government school students will be soon introduced in the state. While the cards will eliminate the need for any further identification cards, they will also be used to store information about students such as photographs, blood group, address, family details and Aadhaar details, the minister reportedly said. The card will also contain details such as number of teachers, number of students and facilities available in the school, Sengottaiyan said, adding the card will also be used to track the academic performances and grades of the student.
