In the world's first attempt to treat cancer with genetically engineered immune cells from a donor, doctors in London have reportedly cured two infants who were diagnosed with a previously incurable form of leukaemia. In each case, T cells, the hungry predator cells of the immune system were genetically engineered to attack cancer cells. The two babies have remained in remission after almost a year of their treatment.
