Centrist Emmanuel Macron defeated far-right leader Marine Le Pen in the French presidential elections to become the next president of the country. Macron has reportedly been elected with an estimated 65.8 % of the vote, while it was 34.2% for Le Pen. Notably, Macron will become France's youngest leader since Napoleon. In his victory speech, Macron said, “Tonight, it is Europe and the world looking at us.”
