Former Chief Justice of India Prafullachandra Natwarlal Bhagwati, 95, considered a pioneer of judicial activism in the country for introducing the concept of Public Interest Litigations (PILs), died in New Delhi on Thursday. Bhagwati is survived by his wife, Prabhavati, and three daughters. A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Bhagwati, held the highest judicial post between July 1985 and December 1986.
