Switzerland’s Roger Federer on Tuesday defeated USA’s Steve Johnson 7-6(7), 7-6(7) to progress to the fourth round of the ATP Indian Wells Masters tournament. Federer will now meet arch-rival and friend Rafael Nadal in the next round, renewing their celebrated rivalry post the epic Australian Open final in 2017, in which Federer came out the best man to win his record 18th Grand Slam title. Notably, this is the first time a ‘FedAl’ clash takes place before the quarterfinals of a tournament since 2004.
