The central government on Wednesday raised excise duty on tobacco-related products, including cigars, cheroots, pan masala, cigarettes. The excise duty on unmanufactured tobacco has been doubled to 8.3%, while the duty on pan masala has been increased to 9% from the existing 6%. Meanwhile, the government also increased excise duty on non-filter cigarettes of length below 65mm to Rs 311 per thousand from Rs 215.
