According to National Centre for Seismology, a strong earthquake measuring 5.9 in the Richter scale hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday. The quake, epicentered in the Nicobar islands region, occurred at 8:21am at a depth of 10 kms. However, no tsunami warning was given as the quake was not so powerful. Further, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or property, say reports.
