CPI-M leader apologises for calling Mamata Banerjee ‘Maal’

Senior CPI-M leader Gautam Deb has reportedly issued an apology after facing criticism over his ‘maal’ remark on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Speaking at a rally organised by the Left students unions on 2 April during hunger strikes, Deb said, “when she would get hungry, she'd run off to eat fish fry and make Partha Chattopadhyay talk. What an item (maal)!”
