The Income Tax department has reportedly submitted to the Madras High Court that Annamalai, a councillor of Chennai Corporation had in his electoral affidavits declared he didn’t own any properties, even though an affidavit filed by the I-T department claimed the value of immovable assets was Rs 3,78,15,463, apart from the 700 gram of gold he owns. The court reportedly held that it was a clear case of ‘mis-declaration’ of assets and directed the authorities to examine consequences and action to be taken.
