According to reports, at least 254 persons, including 43 children, were killed in the landslides in Colombia after an avalanche of water from three overflowing rivers tore through a small city. Many residents did not have enough time to flee as the muddy water quickly surged through the city's streets after a sudden, heavy rainstorm in Mocoa, a city near Colombia’s border with Ecuador.
