With the underground phase of Chennai Metro between Nehru Park and Koyambedu set to be inaugurated on May 14, various reports have emerged over the exorbitant ticket fares, which is expected to be around Rs 70. One individual says that "It makes no sense for me to take the Metro because I can cover the same distance for lesser than Rs 20 in a bus." Reportedly, the ride fare for 13 stations in Mumbai is Rs 40, while the Delhi Metro charges Rs 10 for a distance of up to 2 km and up to Rs 50 to travel a stretch of more than 32 km.
