Chennai port has reportedly signed an MoU with the Puducherry government for the construction of a satellite port. Apart from the MoU, Chennai port trust has also promised to provide financial assistance of Rs. 50 crore for the construction of the satellite port. The satellite port is expected to handle four lakh tonnes of cargo in the first year.
