Following the unanticipated violence in Chennai’s Marina Beach on Monday, S.George, the city’s police commissioner claimed that the police wanted peaceful dispersion and didn’t use force on the crowd initially. Further, he added that the police retaliation was initiated after anti-social elements intervened to cause chaos. Meanwhile, he also asserted that students weren't behind the roadblock protests across the city.
