The Centre has reportedly made the Aadhaar card mandatory for poor pregnant women in the country to get benefits under the Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme. According to reports from Scroll, the pregnant women must until for Aadhaar to receive maternity entitlements, the government said in a notification. Notably, the pregnant women are given time until March 31, 2017, to register themselves for Aadhaar.
