Movies are the first choice of stressbusters for people;however, the entire cost creates a hole in our pocket. Mostly, not the tickets but the snacks cost a lot.
Our bags are checked to see if we carry food and we are restricted to not carry it inside the theatre. India Times reports that Hyderabad police revealed following an RTI query that theatres and multiplexes cannot restrict movie-goers from bringing their own food and water.
Th RTI query was filed by Vijay Gopal, a Hyderabad-based anti-corruption activist. If denied from carrying food, one can complain with the Legal Metrology Department.
In addition, they also revealed that one can carry their own 3D glass and single screen theatres are not allowed to sell 3D glasses.
Under the Cinema Regulation Act of 1955, there are no restrictions for carrying food, reports ScoopWhoop.
However, there is a catch. As the property owner has the right to give or deny permission for a person to enter the premises, if one is stopped from entering, the law doesn't stop the owner either. If a multiplex has a rule to deny food entry, then they can execute it, reports Trak.
