WHY DO INDIA'S LEADING IT COMPANIES HAVE CONTRASTING VIEWS ABOUT "WORK FROM HOME"?
Home > News Shots > BusinessLeading IT firms TCS and Infosys seem to hold contrasting views on the ‘work from home’ debate. While TCS believes it is good to continue working from home, Infosys thinks working from office plays an important role in building social capital.
Two Co- founders and current CEO of Infosys expressed to the media that they were in favour of employees spending time in office.
NR Naryana Murthy told the media that working from home will not be effective unless the productivity standards are maintained. Whereas Current Chairman Nandan Nilekani and CEO Salil Parekh told that working from office helps in “fostering creativity and networking.”
“"We were able to work remotely because of the social capital that various teams have built from years of working together in the office. They know and trust each other. While it is important to continue working from home till there is a medical breakthrough, once things are better, we should look at rebuilding social capital. Underestimating the value of that will cause problems for companies," Salil Parekh told ET NOW
Also, Nilekani told earlier this week that while a certain percent will continue to work from home, all employees must try to come to office some of the time because “it helps build social capital, serendipity, gossip and creative ideas.”
“TCS recently said that only 25% of its employees will need to work from its facilities by 2025 and that every employee can work without spending more than 25% of their time in a TCS office.” Times Now reported.
Post COVID19 pandemic, Indian IT companies might continue to work from home.
