WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum announced on Monday that he will be leaving the company and breaking ties with parent-company Facebook. Jan Koum wrote on his Facebook page about his departure, but he did not mention any reason. According to The Washington Post, Koum will also leave the Facebook's board of directors, to which Facebook is yet to comment on.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg replied to his post and said, "Jan: I will miss working so closely with you. I'm grateful for everything you've done to help connect the world, and for everything you've taught me, including about encryption and its ability to take power from centralized systems and put it back in people's hands. Those values will always be at the heart of WhatsApp."
