Home > News Shots > BusinessIn these unprecedented COVID-19 crisis and times, Work From Home (WFH) has become the new normal for working professionals. So, country’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) announced that the bank will work-from-anywhere (WFA) strategy.
During his speech at the 65th Annual General Meeting of the bank, SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar revealed that the bank's work-from-anywhere (WFA) strategy will save the lender Rs 1,000 crore through cost-cutting. This move will be the main component of business continuity amid COVID-19 crisis.
Kumar further added that SBI is in a good position to manage coronavirus-related challenges because of its strong franchise and for legacy toxic loans.
According to Times Now report, SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar further in his video conferencing, emphasised that the bank is focused on reskilling of workforce and improvement of staff productivity. "Following global best practices, the bank will institute work from anywhere (WFA) infrastructure to facilitate work from any location while taking care of social aspects of work-life balance," he said.
However, talking about the crisis due to the COVID-19, Kumar went on to add that because of coronavirus, fiscal year FY2021 will be tough for the bank. So far, SBI has about 2.5 lakh employees and 24,000 branches across different states in the country.
