Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there has been a huge impact on business all across the world. Keeping this in mind, Wipro chairman Rishad Premji made an announcement which will bring a smile to every Wipro employee.
According to an Economic Times report, Wipro chairman said the IT services company has not laid off any employee and has no plans to retrench employees amid the pandemic. “Safety and well-being of our employees are of paramount importance,” Premji told shareholders at the AGM.
Premji made this big announcement, when he was addressing his first annual general meeting (AGM) as the Chairman of Wipro.
Premji, who took charge in July 2019, further stated that Wipro, like other Indian IT services companies, have reduced new hiring in the wake of the pandemic due to the slowdown across geographies.
Meanwhile, Thierry Delaporte, chief executive officer and managing director, Wipro, said he is “hoping to finalise the plan to drive improvements across all spheres to achieve industry leading growth. Profitable growth will be the most important priority on my agenda. We will do everything to regain momentum in the marketplace."
