Home > News Shots > BusinessIndian IT services companies are now extensively shifting their focus on opportunities in the cloud services space since the pandemic has forced organizations to increasingly lean towards cashing in digital opportunities.
Large Indian IT companies such as Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys are among firms that are strengthening their Cloud offerings through joint ventures with major Players such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and IBM cloud.
Wipro serves as an example since the firm has tied up with IBM and is planning to provide hybrid cloud offerings to its clients. Infosys too had a similar partnership with IBM in march.
HCL Technologies has set up an exclusive business unit for Google Cloud with 1,300 employees working in the unit. As per media reports, the company is planning to increase this count to 5,000. Other IT Companies such as TCS and Infosys have even set up specialized cloud teams for different platforms whose roles vary depending upon the platform and task in hand.

The current pandemic is accelerating cloud migration among enterprises, opening up fresh opportunities for IT services firms,” Pareekh Jain, an IT outsourcing advisor and founder of Pareekh Consulting told Business Standard.
According to a recent estimate released by global research firm Gartner, global IT spending in 2020 is expected to decline by 8 percent whereas “sub segments such as public cloud services will be a bright spot in the forecast, growing 19 per cent in 2020.”
It also stated that cloud- based telephony, messaging and conferencing are among areas that have seen an increase in spending indicating the rise of this new trend.
