Many startups like OYO, Zomato are exploring the option of permanently work from home. To shift towards this new office setup, companies are offering work from home allowances to employees for them to buy the appropriate furniture or set up internet routers and more. Employees are also getting extra allowance so that they can pay the increased electricity and internet bills.
After announcing work from home till the end of the year, tech giant Google had set aside $ 1000 for each employee for them to buy work from home furniture.
Bengaluru-based G7 CR Technologies has recently announced that each of its employees will be getting Rs 18,000 ass work from home allowance. An Artificial intelligence company Bobble.ai too has followed the same model.
Startups have been procuring office chairs or laptops and enabling them to set up internet connections at home. “Ensuring employees can work comfortably from home is the primary need. Some may not have high- speed internet, others might not have a comfortable work chair. We have found that providing a no- questions-asked allowance to set up a home office and partnering with brands offering such products like ergonomic chairs at a subsidized cost goes a long way in making the employee’s life that much easier,” said Anuradha Bharat, Head, People Operations at Razorpay.
Leading Companies like Amazon and Linkedin has also allocated work from home allowance.
