GET READY FOR FOOD DELIVERY BY TOP E-COMMERCE PLATFORM - ITS HAPPENING NOW!
Home > News Shots > BusinessInternet Giant Amazon is now setting its foot in the food delivery business. The company has started its trials in four parts of Bangalore. The move comes as a response to the trend that indicates surge in online ordering of food in some places like the US. However, India has seen a decline in this area.
Amazon has invested around $6.5 billion for its expansion in India.
As per media reports, the company wanted to launch the food business before lockdown but due to the lockdown and restriction on non- essential items, it was put on hold
According to BBC’s report, around 100 restaurants and kitchens in Bangalore are involved in trials. If it succeeds, the service will be expanded to other parts.
"Customers have been telling us for some time that they would like to order prepared meals on Amazon in addition to shopping for other essentials. This is particularly relevant in present times as they stay home safe. we also recognize that local businesses need all the help they can get,” the firm told in a statement.
Amazon too has incurred tremendous losses due to the pandemic.
