GAMBHIR LASHES OUT AT AFRIDI: "SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T REMEMBER HIS AGE, HOW WILL HE REMEMBER MY RECORDS?”
Home > News Shots > BusinessDuring Pakistan’s India tour in 2007, Gambhir and Afridi were the centre of attention as the two hurled abuses at each other in a match. When Gambhir tried to score a run by shuffling in between the wickets, from Afridi’s ball, they collided. It resulted in a heated argument, which was resolved after the Umpire’s intervention. However, India won against Pakistan a result of Gambhir’s sensible 75 off 54 balls, constituted of fours and sixes.
Afridi recently took to Twitter to write about Gambhir and Shane Warne, mentioning that he liked to play against these two as he enjoyed the way they reacted to losing. He commented on Gambhir’s attitude in his autobiography. Afridi wrote, “(Gautam Gambhir) and his attitude problem. He, who has no personality. He, who is barely a character in the great scheme of cricket. He, who has no great records, just a lot of attitude. He, who behaves like he’s a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond." These quotes are said to be picked from different publications.
Gambhir on Saturday, responded, “Someone who doesn't remember his age how will he remember my records! ok. Shahid Afridi let me remind you one: 2007 T20 WC final, Ind vs Pak Gambhir 75 off 54 balls vs Afridi 0 off 1 ball. Most important: We won the Cup. And yes, I’ve attitude towards liars, traitors & opportunists.”
