Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while presenting the Union Budget 2017-18, has announced a Budget allocation of Rs 48,000 crore to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The allocation was Rs 37,000 crore in the 2016-17 Budget.  Notably, Jaitley also said that the participation of women in MNREGA has increased to 55%.
