A study has reportedly revealed that nearly 40% of the BJP candidates in upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections have a criminal background, the most among all political parties. While the Samajwadi Party has 25% contestants with criminal backgrounds, Bahujan Samaj Party has 33%. A total of 168 candidates have declared that they have criminal cases against them, with 143 of them having serious charges, say reports.
