Bengaluru on Saturday became only the second Indian city after Delhi to get a full-fledged metro system, following the inauguration of the final section in the project's first phase on Saturday. The 42-km stretch Phase 1, comprising an 18-km east-west line and a 24-km north-south line, was built at the cost of Rs 13,845 crore and is expected to be used by five lakh people every day.
