According to reports, the basic pay of RBI Governor Urjit Patel was hiked to Rs 2.5 lakh from Rs 90,000 per month, with effect from January 1, 2017. RBI Governor Urjit Patel, who assumed office in September 2016, will now receive around Rs 3.7 lakh in total per month. The basic pay of RBI Deputy Governors was also increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2.25 lakh per month.
