In a bid to prepare for the four-match Test series against India, Australian spinners Steve O'Keefe and Nathan Lyon have reportedly consulted former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath to prepare for their India tour. O’Keefe at a press conference asserted the importance of working with them was to learn to challenge the batsman's defence. Notably, O'Keefe also worked with former England spinner Monty Panesar and Indian all-rounder Sriram Sridharan to prepare for the series.
