Cricket Australia has reportedly warned its players, stating that alternative contracts will not be given, if they fail to agree to a new collective bargaining agreement. Reportedly, this means that players with contracts expiring in 2016-17, will not have contracts for 2017-18. This comes amid an escalation of a protracted pay dispute between the board and its players. Notably, the island nation's professional cricketers rejected a pay offer from Cricket Australia last month, saying the proposal was a win for cricket administrators but a loss for cricket.
