Astronomers record heart-like rhythms of a black hole

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has reportedly discovered proof of heartbeat-like pulses of a faraway supermassive black hole. Study of X-ray data showed repeated bursts of energetic particles and shock waves produced by the black hole at the centre of galaxy NGC 4696. Notably, researchers suspect that the black hole bursts or arrhythmic "beats" have occurred every five to ten million years.
