According to reports, Activists from the May 17 Movement staged a protest near Valluvar Kottam in Chennai against the Centre’s proposal for hydrocarbon exploration and extraction project in and around Neduvasal village in Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, residents of the project area fear that the project would affect the livelihood of lakhs of people living in and around the area and their natural resources would be lost due to indiscriminate digging of deep wells for the project.
