The Union Law Ministry on Tuesday appointed Achal Kumar Jyoti, as the next Chief Election Commissioner of India. According to reports, Jyoti will take oath on July 6, the day the incumbent Nasim Zaidi demits office. Jyoti, a 1975-batch former IAS officer, will hold office for only about six months since he is scheduled to retire in January 2018.
