The Airport Authority of India is reportedly in plans to upgrade the Chennai airport, which is fast reaching a saturation point, at the earliest. According to reports, the AAI has requested the state government to provide over 200 acres of land to install lights for the second runway, build a hangar and new taxiways. Reportedly, the request was made when a delegation of officials led by aviation secretary met the transport minister and chief secretary to sign a MoU for regional connectivity scheme.
